Oprah Winfrey's Strategic Planning
OprahWinfrey's strategic planning started in
Chicago when she was the host of the “The Oprah Winfrey Show” started in the late 1980’s.
She quickly rises to be the number one talk show host. Oprah Winfrey was then in
a position to negotiate ownership of the show and started her own production
company because of the success and the amount of revenue generated by the show.
OprahWinfrey's planning and marketing begins
with the show discussing every topic that matters, with the most famous people
and normal people. There was a place on her show for everyone. Her marketing
plan was achieved when she was the highest ranking talk host show within a two
year history.
OprahWinfrey's marketing objective was to start
her own cable channel “The Oprah Winfrey Network” that would give her the
opportunity to speak for 24 hours a day. Her move from broadcast to cable has
been a transformative moment for the television business. Making her the first
time a talk-show host has ever taking over an entire cable channel.
OprahWinfrey's strategic directions with the
cable channel were to host different talk shows; starting with the "Rosie O’Donnell"
and "Rachael Ray".
OprahWinfrey's marketing mix is that she owns
her own Production Company “Harpo Production, Cable Channel “Oprah Winfrey
Network” and Magazine Company “O”.
